I’m excited every year for the Emmy Awards and this year is no exception.  I love throwing a themed party celebrating my favorite nominees and shows.  In fact each year I let family and friends know one element of the theme, encase they want to dress the part.  I know it sounds over the top but we have a great time getting together for a unique night.

Residents of Falcon Square apartments can start planning their own Emmy Awards party with a few simple tips and some creative ideas.   Here are some I’ve thought of doing, based on this years nominations:

1. Mad Men – To celebrate this show set in the 1960s, I’m going to have several cocktails popular during that period, including a dirty martini and mint julip.

2. Project Runway – In honor of Heidi and Tim, I’ve decided to have the table decor look like the red carpet with spools of thread balancing plates of deconstructed food.  My attempt is to have it so everyone creates their own appetizers with various elements.

3. 30 Rock -  A hilarious show set in NYC’s Rockefeller Center.   Dessert will consist of donuts and more donuts with decaf coffee to honor the show that is fast paced and humorous.

NBC is hosting the event at 8pm but the red carpet begins on the E Channel three hours earlier.  If you want to add a fun element to the evening, download ballots from NBC and let everyone make their predictions.  Have fun and let me know how your party goes!
